Why Did You Decide to Become a Dentist?

Abilene prosthodontist Dr Jonathan Hawley

At 9 years old, Dr. Jonathan’s dad (our own Dr. Robert) brought him along on multiple weekends when he was taking care of emergency patients or volunteering at local events. He witnessed people change in the chair thanks to the pain relief, and it left a deep impression.

He remembers one woman so vividly. She was connected with Dr. Robert through their church and needed a lot of help. She told him there wasn't a time that her teeth didn’t hurt, and at the end of her procedures, she wept with gratitude.

Looking back, she just needed routine care - nothing extraordinary. But she was so thankful, and this was the catalyst that guided Dr. Jonathan’s career toward helping people in the community through dentistry.
